I think the strongest one thing you need to get elected is exposure and exposure is driven by money. I think exposure is even more important than your beliefs, public speaking, and even track record because you could have the most brilliant ideas in the world but if nobody had any idea who you are than you will not be elected. Exposure being the most important thing realistically to getting elected is certainly not democratic and not what the founding fathers intended for our country. The issues should be the most important thing and what you’re going to do to help the country.
Hard money is the money that refers to money that is raised by the guidelines set by the FEC. This can help a candidate get elected but for reason I think, that are primarily not financial. This money is more of a figure head and shows a lot of endorsements that can help voters sway one way or another. Soft money refers to the unlimited money campaigns can raise for “party building activities”. This I feel like is where the real money comes from in funding a campaign. This is really important because as I stated before exposure is key and to get exposure you need the money to get your name out there and your ideas known. Soft money is illegal because its unregulated by its still contributed to the political party as a whole so the money is still getting there.
Media Bias I believe is huge in helping a candidate get elected. Like I stated before I believe exposure for a candidate is key. An example of this would kind of be how Obama was immortalized and made into more than just a candidate in the recent presidential election by the left. Media is where the vast majority of the people learn about the candidates so how they are portrayed is extremely important. Media Bias is which way the network tends to ‘lean’. For example, Fox News leans right and MSNBC leans left.
The Political Action Committees are groups designated to help a part or candidate get elected into office. They can do a lot of work helping the candidate get his crucial exposure and getting his ideas out there. They can also help with raising funds.
Voter turnout is obviously huge because of clear reasons. A candidate’s support base needs to actually go out and vote or their support is meaningless on Election Day. It’s the percent of eligible voters that cast their ballot on election day.
Political parties are important because the endorsement of either the republican or democratic party will basically get you many votes regardless how qualified you really are.

The case Mapp vs Ohio is another case that shows when potential freedoms are being violated. Dollree Map’s house was illegally searched with a fake warrant and she was convicted of possessing pornographic images. The question in line was whether the fourth amendment was violated by Mapp being convicted by things found in an illegal search. This evidence was illegal and must be thrown out. It would have been different if Mapp’s porn was in a school because than the school would have had the right to search anything on its property. A similar incident happened in the case New Jersey vs T.L.O. She (T.L.O.) was a 14 year old student accused of smoking the bathroom at her school. Her purse was searched without her consent or a warrant and illegal substances were found. The fourth amendment was not violated in this case like it was in Mapp vs. Ohio because the school has a legal right to search anything on its ground. So any substance found in the search can be constitutionally held against T.L.O.
A case were the Fifth Amendment was violated is Mirand vs Arizona. Mirand was arrested for a crime and taken to interrogation were he confessed. However, he was never informed of his right to council which violates the Fifth Amendment. The police were not able to use this confession as evidence because he was not informed of his constitutional right to council making Mirand’s statement illegal.
The debate between freedoms and protections is a tricky one because they overlap each other. The more freedom given, the less protection there is and vice versa. It is the government’s job to decide where to give out freedom to its citizens and where to take away certain freedoms in order to protect the people.
